I am Sally, a multi-disciplined artist from Glasgow.
I was on the 2018/2019 Future Leader programme as part of the dance strand. We looked at dance styles from Bhangra, Cuban to Maractu and Samba Reggae in our cohort and really enjoyed taking these styles and exploring in a really respectful and physical way. Since completing the programme, I have continued my education and taken every opportunity to fully immersive myself in collaborative arts and working locally and internationally. This includes joining Juba Do Leao – a NW based music and dance collective inspired by the ground shaking rhythms and vibrant dances from Northeastern Brazil.
Since completing the programme I have had wonderful opportunities with the Future Leaders and the Global Grooves teams, these include:
working around the UK at festivals and parades, working on stilt commissions, delivering school workshop, delivering the Active Citizens Programme to a group of wonderful empowered community wanting to make positive change, hosting our International Active Citizens and now being a non-executive member of the Global Grooves board.
After completing the programme I started my own company – Company DNA.
D.N.A stands for Dynamic New Approach and I want the company to nurture and promote cross art form collaboration, young talent and give them the power of their agency to find out who they are personally and artistically in new ways.
The aim with all my work is to bring joy, fizzy energy, inspiration and empowerment through the arts and I practice these values through promoting collaboration between people, communities and varying art forms.

I am currently based between Glasgow and Manchester and the Assistant Director of Ignite Theatre – a theatre company established for people seeking sanctuary in Glasgow – I look forward to continuing to make new connections, bring bright sunny energy, joy and empowerment to all!
