With a background career in electronic engineering, and a lifelong musician from a music loving family, Jon has found many opportunities to contribute – as well as to discover – in the colourful and varied environment of Carnival arts production.
In his words, there’s always something that needs fixing or inventing and there are always new music and art forms to learn and share in this amazing organisation.
Jon has essentially designed and created all of Global Grooves’ lighting solutions, and trained other members of the team to do it, too. He was the lead electronics artist on our Gambia Kartong trip, helping devise new lighting solutions to take to an international Carnival street event, and he has also been a guest tutor for our Future Leaders programmes.
Jon plays bass and percussion at most of our outdoor gigs, and he is also instrumental – no pun intended! – in the support of our partner project, The Incredible Plastic Street Band.
When not at Global Grooves, Jon will be running up and down hills or playing his guitar, in between building world-class guitar amplifiers for his company, Mambo Amps. Check his amps out right here.
