Mel has worked with Global Grooves since 2013 and has designed and made headdresses for the principal dancers at many festivals and events since then.
Having a background in three dimensional design specialising in ceramics, Mel creates and exhibits her own sculptural work at her studio and leads many art-based workshops with local community groups and organisations.
In 2016, Mel was commissioned to be one of four artists to create an individual piece for Global Grooves at Mossley Light Festival. This project allowed her to develop her sculpting and casting skills in modern transparent resins and experiment with lighting effects using diodes, optic fibres and florescent wire.
Mel loves collaborating with the mix of many different and exciting artists from different disciplines that make up Global Grooves.
